So, I was looking at my meagre bookshelf in attempts to find inspiration for my English ISP, when, lo and behold, I realise I have on my shelves a book that I can't remember reading! For the life of me, I don't know if I've read it before. Honestly, I think I need to start making a log, of all the books I've ever read (I mean, I already have a fic rec collection, why don't I have a reading log? I just need to spend one day at the library, and figuring it all out. Because I just can't remember! And I think I might have bought the book and put it aside because I didn't have the time to read it, but I don't know - I'll have to start reading it to find out. Jeez.[ETA:4.15] so it turns out I did read it (02.08.04) - but I can't remember it at all; guess it wasn't very memorable lol.

I woke up this morning and felt so ridiculously sore - my lower back, the back of my arms, my legs, I felt like I should be walking around doubled over like pre-homo erectus species haha.Sidenote: funny how one song can put you in a good mood for the rest of the day.
Sometimes the system goes on the blink
And the whole thing turns out wrong
You might not make it back and you know
That you could be well oh that strong
And I'm not wrong
So where is the passion when you need it the most
Oh you and I
You kick up the leaves and the magic is lost
Cause you had a bad day
You're taking one down
You sing a sad song just to turn it around
You say you don't know
You tell me don't lie
You work at a smile and you go for a ride
You had a bad day
You've seen what you like
And how does it feel for one more time .. bad day . david powter

25.9.05 2 AM and she calls me cause I'm still awakeCan you help me unravel my latest mistake?
I don't love him, winter just wasn't my season.
Yeah we walk through the doors so accusing their eyes
Like they have any right at all to criticize
Hypocrites, you're all here for the very same reason.
Cause you can't jump the track
We're like cars on a cable
and life's like an hourglass glued to the table,
No one can find the rewind button, girl
So cradle your head in your hands.
And breathe, just breathe, whoa breathe, just breathe
May he turned 21 on the base of Fort Bliss
"Just a day," he said down to the flask in his fist
Ain't been sober since maybe October of last year
Here in town you can tell he's been down for while
But my God it's so beautiful when the boy smiles
Wanna hold him maybe I'll just sing about it
Cause you can't jump the track
We're like cars on a cable
And life's like an hourglass glued to the table,
No one can find the rewind button, boys
so cradle your head in your hands
And breathe, just breathe, whoa breath just breathe
There's a light at each end of this tunnel
You shout cause you're just as far in as you'll ever be out
And these mistakes you've made
You'll just make them again if you'll only try turnin' around
2 AM and I'm still awake writing this song
If I get it all down on paper it's no longer inside of me
Threatening the life it belongs to.
And I feel like I'm naked in front of the crowd
Cause these words are my diary screamin' out aloud
And I know that you'll use them however you want to.
But you can't jump the track
We're like cars on a cable
And life's like an hourglass glued to the table,
No one can find the rewind button now
Sing it if you understand, yeah breathe
Just breathe, oh oh breathe, just breathe, oh breathe,
just breathe, oh breathe, just breathe .. breathe (2 am) . anna nalick

Your Seduction Style: Prized Object
The seduction game you play is tried, true, and still effective: hard to get. You know that the best seducers turn the tables - and get their crush to seduce them. The one running has the power, and you're a challenge that is worth the chase.
You are a master of enticing and pulling back. Giving a little and taking some away.
You are controlled enough to know rewards come after a long seduction dance. Even though you want to call, email, or say "I love you" first - you don't!
You're style is the perfect mix of hot and cold - so much so that you have many suitors. Think Holly Golightly from Breakfast at Tiffany's ... or any of those creepy guys from the Bachelor. You're skilled at inspiring a chase. The real test is picking the person to slow down for.
What Kind of Seducer Are You?
Slow and Steady
Your friends see you as painstaking and fussy.
They see you as very cautious, extremely careful, a slow and steady plodder.
It'd really surprise them if you ever did something impulsively or on the spur of the moment.
They expect you to examine everything carefully from every angle and then usually decide against it.
How Do People See You?

14.9.05 Adventure And Passion - the five page versionIt was a dark and dreary night... no, that's not quite right... it was the best of times, it was the worst of times... but that doesn't seem to fit either; I suppose we will just have to resort to -
Once upon a time, in a kingdom far, far away, lived a well-to-do family, who possessed a strong belief in tradition, and, to be fair, had the best of intentions. They were a loving family, consisting of Mother Rosetta, Father Theodore, and a healthy batch of offspring - five children in fact, named Emiline, Kurt, Felicia, Trustan, and Earnest. The land in which they lived - the Watchthing province of Greater Longoria - was prosperous, and the climate well suited for agricultural families such as theirs. And so they thrived under the rule of sovereign Queen Isabel the Third.
However, daughter Emiline, much as she loved her Mother and Father, her comfortable life in the countryside of Watchthing, was unhappy. Though Felicia was content with their lot in the world, Emiline could not share her younger sister's rosy disposition. Emiline longed for adventure, passion, excitement - everything she did not have helping out on her family's lands. She would even have traded places with Earnest, the eldest son, and thus the sibling who would inherit the business. At least he got to learn of agriculture, and of moneys; furthermore, he got to travel with their Father to visit outlying farms. Emiline resented being left at home to sew, to cook, to spend her time doing what she believed the most mundane matters. So when her Mother mentioned that Queen Isabel was requiring of a lady servant, Emiline jumped at the opportunity. Perhaps it would be the same mundane tasks, but at least the journey to the royal court in Little Longoria would be of interest. Against Emiline's protestations, her Father insisted that Trustan accompany her, for, as her Father said, "it is dangerous for a young woman to travel the countryside by herself. Who knows what you might encounter!"
So with a pony laden full of supplies, Emiline and Trustan set off to Little Longoria, two days away at a brisk walk, or so their Father told them. It was fortunate perhaps that Emiline had always had a head for maps and a keen directional sense, else this story may have had an entirely different outcome. But that comes later. The first day of their journey was utterly uneventful, and both brother and sister enjoyed the respite from the long hours of farm work. Though Emiline had protested, she rather enjoyed having Trustan's company, for he was well educated and always had something to teach her. However, on the evening of their fateful journey, just as they were making camp, a loud, thunderous boom sounded, coming from deep inside the forest. Their pony started, running off into the night and without a backwards glance, Emiline took chase. It was not easy going, for the forest was dense and the treetops allowed little moonlight through, but Emiline followed her poor startled pony, finding it shuffling in a clearing by a little rock pool.
"You silly thing," Emiline scolded the pony, moving to take its reins. But just as she had calmed the animal down, everything became dark, and Emiline looked up to see a tremendous Giant casting his shadow upon the clearing. Emiline let out a muffled shout, scaring her pony again, and causing the giant to turn its head towards her.
"WHO'S THERE?" it boomed, peering through the trees. Emiline froze, watching with great fear as the Giant spotted her and reached down. He grabbed her with thick fingers and Emiline screamed, thumping her hands against his fist. "A TASTY LITTLE GIRL-MEAT, I SEE. HOW KIND OF YOU TO JOIN ME!"
Emiline took a gulping breath, trying to calm herself in the face of this monster. "Truly, Sir Giant, you don't want to eat me."
"AND WHY WOULD THAT BE, LITTLE GIRL-MEAT? I THINK YOU SEEM QUITE DELICIOUS." The Giant pushed the frantically flailing Emiline into his mouth, but when he tried to swallow, he found that she was clinging to his tongue. "MPRH MRRRPH!" the Giant tried to dislodge Emiline, but she resisted. Inside the Giant's mouth, she struggled to hold onto his tongue, but she did not know how to escape. If only there was a way to force him to open his mouth... Emiline dug out of her deep waistcoats the largest sewing needle she had and drove it into the Giant's lip. With great force the Giant opened his mouth and coughed, sending Emiline flying out and falling painfully through the trees. Pulling herself together, Emiline ran into the night, never once stopping for fear that the Giant may have followed her.
The next morning, an exhausted Emiline rested at the foot of a small bridge. She had run all night, but at least there was no sign of the Giant. What little bearings she had told her she was still at least a day away from Little Longoria, but she had no idea where her brother Trustan would have gone. Better that she seek shelter first, and find some food. Emiline followed the faint path that had led her out of the forest and to this bridge, hoping to find someone living along the way. She found a dwelling not long on the road, a little house with a poorly thatched roof. Emiline knocked on the door, and a crooning voice called out, "Come in, come in..."
Emiline pushed the door open, but inside the house was dark and foreboding. Emiline was about to turn around and head back along the path when the door slammed behind her, and she turned to face a wrinkly old woman.
"Hello, my dear," said the woman. "You're just in time for stew!"
"Oh, well, thank you, that's very kind Madam, but I believe I should be on my way," Emiline stammered.
"Oh no, please, stay! I make the most wonderful stew, won't you have a taste?" The old woman beckoned Emiline to the pot brewing over the fire. The steam arising from it was a frightening shade of green. "Oh don't worry dear, it tastes much better with a little bit a sweet, young child-flesh. You're a little old mind, but so few children come visit me anymore."
Emiline stared in horror at the old woman. "Oh, you simply can't mean to eat me!" The old woman just smiled a toothy grin and moved towards Emiline. "Please Madam, wait! Wait! If I can make a better stew, the best stew you've ever tasted, will you please, please let me go?"
The old woman considered it. "Perhaps... you may try."
So Emiline ran from the woman, searching high and low in her pantries to find ingredients to make a better stew. If her Mother had taught her anything, it was how to cook befitting a Queen. In fact, Emiline remembered, Mother had given her some of their prized spices to present to Queen Isabel. Surely they would make a better tasting stew than she would.
Emiline toiled in the gloomy house while the old woman watched over her and her steaming green pot with interest. The house grew warmer and warmer, until Emiline begged the old woman to open the door to let in some cool air. The woman, intrigued by the tempting smells coming from Emiline's cooking, complied, and before long, Emiline was done, setting down a steaming pot at the table.
"There, try it..." she said fearfully.
The old woman tasted a spoonful. "Why, this is delightful! These spices would be just the thing to add some flavour to my soup..." but Emiline was already running out the door, trusting only her instincts to take her to Little Longoria.
Thankfully, Emiline had particularly good instincts. She arrived in Little Longoria, worn out and dirty, but alive and thankfully uneaten. At the gates, a kind gentleman on a horse offered her a ride into the court, when she told him of her intentions to apply to be the Queen's lady servant. However, when she arrived, she found that the audience room was almost empty, and the guard at the front of the hall dismissed her with a wave. Determined, Emiline pushed passed the gaurd, insistent on seeing the Queen. She had to be warned of the Giant, Emiline reasoned as she called out, "Milady Queen of Greater Longoria, may I have a word?"
"Audiences are over, we have chosen our lady servants," the sovereign said dismissively.
"Milady, I must speak with you!"
The Queen turned to look at Emiline. "Oh, truly now," she exclaimed, "You don't think we'd receive an audience with one so dressed as you are! You look as if you've been frolicking with pigs!"
Emiline had suffered quite enough indignities. "My sovereign lady, I agree. I would not take the case of one such dressed as myself as a prospective lady servant. But I do believe you must hear me out! I am so attired not because I have been 'frolicking with pigs', as you said, but because I have just yesterday and today, escaped from the grasps of both a tremendous Giant and a horrible child-devouring crone! Only those things which I had taken for granted at home saved me from perishment. I do believe that this news deserves your attention, milady."
Queen Isabel looked at Emiline in disbelief. "You truly believe we would be wooed by such a story, dear girl? Are you quite aright in your head?"
Before Emiline could protest, another voice spoke up. "Ah well, unfortunately the girl has the right matter of it." It was the kind lord who had offered Emiline a ride into court.
The Queen turned to look at the new stranger and inclined her head. "Well met, Prince brother. But what proof have you of this?" Emiline realised with a start that the kind lord she had encountered was the Royal Prince!
"I've a day past lost a scouting team to this vicious Giant. Thus do I know she is telling the truth," the Prince gave Emiline a nod. "I suggest that you dispatch an army of your guard and let me lead them to where we last encountered the Giant, and we will deal with him appropriately."
"Suggestion heard, we shall do as you have councilled," Queen Isabel answered, sounding irritated. "And I suppose you would like a place in my lady servants' quarters as reward for this news."
"No milady. Thank you. Perhaps my skills are better suited at home," Emiline responded as politely as she could, curtseying. She left the audience room quickly and found herself back outside of court.
"Wait, miss?" Emiline turned; it was the Prince who had followed her outside. "I only wanted to say you were quite brave. Very few people stand up to the Queen like that."
"I was only acting for the best of the nation," Emiline explained reasonably.
"Yes, well," the Prince conceded, "I would like to know, how did you defeat the Giant, and this child-eating crone you mentioned?"
Emiline explained how she had used the skills she had most resented when she lived on the farms to defeat both foes; though it was not the most conventional use of those skills and tools, she did admit she was thankful to have them. The Prince, so struck by Emiline's quick thinking and bravery, asked her if she would like to join him and the guard in taking down the Giant. He was quick to point out it would be dangerous.
"Danger? What's a little danger but a spice for adventure?" Emiline answered, and quite willingly agreed. "But there's only one thing... I still need to find my brother Trustan!"
"Ah... that matter," the Prince said sheepishly. "Well, he's with my men at the moment actually, we found him a ways away from where we first sighted the Giant. I realised right away when I heard your story that you were the sister he spoke of. Only... I wanted to see if you would join me first, before I told you he was with our company." But Emiline only laughed, joyful that her brother was alive and well, and that she had finally found her life of adventure and passion.

Honestly, my agenda is crucial to me - without it I'm absolutely lost. Not to relate to a terrible movie - but what the hell, I am: New York Minute (or something), that Mary-Kate & Ashley movie where one of the twins was the big nerdy one with the day planner that was absolutely essential. Went to Wonderland yesterday with Mok, Lisa, Jason, Dennis, Kevin, Molloy and Zaheer. Had a bit of a freakout because Puiyan was missing, that wasn't so cool. Waited for an hour for her to show up, and then Jason waited another half hour and met us in the park and it was sort of in the backs of our minds. But still, Wonderland was fun, if a little chilly. Went on Italian Job again, I starved in line and was convinced *not* to go get a hotdog, but instead wait til after and we would go for KBBQ. We did have funnel cake though, and ooh how good that was. I love funnel cake XD But before we went for funnel cake we walked Dennis and them to the gate and guess who we bumped into! Pui! With Joyce and her brother and neighbour/friend. Turns out the bus never came and she was stranded but all was good in the end. Pui joined us for one last ride and then we all went to KBBQ, which was fun and hilarious ^_^ Cooking Celine style, fighting for beef space and shunning Jason's fish. It was great ^_^ I'll have pictures up in a bit :)[ETA:11.55] Pictures from Wonderland up :)
